Corvallis Beer Week 2013 dates set & Support Drive begins

Dear Potential Supporter of Corvallis Beer Week 2013,

Corvallis Beer Week began in 2011, and in its inaugural two years has become an exciting and unique local beer tradition that promotes beer education and enjoyment through a diverse range of sponsored events.  As Corvallis Beer Week 2013 approaches, we invite you to consider participating in our third year of craft beer inspired festivities from September 9-15, 2013. Many of you receiving this letter have participated in previous years and your support and involvement have helped to make this event so successful. 

CBW2012 gained huge momentum in the media with a Live On-Air Spot with KLCC Radio, a Local TV Spot on KVAL, Front Page article and Front Page Banner in Gazette Times.  Our goal is to expand on these successes and make CBW2013 an even more dynamic experience for craft beer enthusiasts. 

As you can see our goal is to make Corvallis Beer Week 2013 a win-win for everyone involved.  With sponsors planning and executing great events and the organizers executing all the benefits and promotions, Corvallis Beer Week 2013 is destined to be another awesome seven days dedicated to the education and celebration of Craft Beer throughout beautiful Corvallis, Oregon.

What a week!!!

As another wildly successful Corvallis Beer Week comes to a close we would like to take a minute to thank all of the sponsors of and venues for Corvallis Beer Week 2012!  We'd also like to thank all of the Craft Beer fans here in Corvallis and beyond that turned out for one or more of the 39 events during CBW2012.  We are now going to take a few weeks off before we start planning for next year!  

If you're like us and in a few weeks will still be highly interested in more Craft Beer related events throughout Corvallis checkout the 2 Towns Grand Opening on September 29th and Bloktoberfest on October 13th.  Thanks again and see you next year for Corvallis Beer Week 2013!!

#32 ~ 9:30-11AM - ***SOLD OUT*** Beer Brunch and Cellar Stash Limited Bottle Release @ Block 15 *

2 years running this has been a very popular event!  This year's sell out happened in 13 hours.  Although sold out, here is the skinny.  Once a year, Nick Arzner and the Block 15 brewers sit down and decide what ridiculously awesome brews they would like to pull out of their cellar and share with their fans.  Block does this by offering up a Beer Brunch of free range eggs, local bacon, Nebula Stout sausage, French Toast, pastries, fresh fruit and coffee.  Your ticket also includes Beer Rights to purchase 2 bottles of beer from the stash.  See...it's pretty awesome...so make sure you stay tuned for Corvallis Beer Week 2013 and remember, get your tickets early!

Want to go behind the scenes at one of America's premiere brewing and fermentation science universities?!?!  Well, they've been kind enough to open the doors for us on Saturday, September 15th from 12-2PM.  Check out the custom micro-malter, the only one like it in the country and see what they are working on in the hop research facility.Just a short walk or bike ride to the Fairgrounds for Septembeerfest, this is great way to get the start the afternoon.

Dave Wills at Oregon Trail is famous for his mystery beer events.  The basic premise is that you are given a sheet of paper with 10-15 beers styles or actual beers listed and then you blind sample each brew and see if you can match them all up correctly!  Very fun and crazy educational!  This year he has decided to do a Mystery IPA Event!!  10-15 IPA's and you are trying to accurately guess each one.  Think you've got a high IPA-IQ..then come on down the Oregon Trail Brewery and test your stuff!

#29 ~ 5-10PM - Dark Side Tap Takeover @ downtown American Dream Pizza and Crowbar

The downtown dream decided to take it up a notch this year and host a Dark Side tap takeover on Friday, September 14th!!  What is a dark side tap takeover you ask?  Well, Seth Waddell from CrowBar and the crew at the downtown American Dream Pizza decided it would be super fun to put on all dark beers for the night.  Everything from porters, stouts, coffee stouts, and even CDA's will be flowing!  The roof will be open as well as the front of the house so this event is definitely family friendly...just no minors in the Crowbar.  To the Dark Side......

This is an event not to be missed!  Take in an evening of fantastic and ultra rare barrel-matured beers in the relaxing setting of Corvallis' downtown Odd Fellows Hall.  Mingle with brewers and other barrel-matured beer aficionado's as we explore the creations from Block 15, Flat Tail, 2 Towns Ciderhouse, The Commons Brewery, Breakside Brewing, Cascade Brewing, Logsdon Farmhouse Ales, Stone Brewing, Lickspigot, Oakshire Brewing and Ninkasi Brewing.  Tickets are $25 and include a souvenir poster, ticket, BARREL logo'd belgian tulip tasting glass, tasting booklet and 4 tasting tokens.  1 token = 4oz. pour with an 8oz. pour max at one time.  Add'l tokens are available for purchase at $2/ea.  For more information click on the BARREL link at the top of the page.

Afton Field Farm kicks off Corvallis Beer Week's first event Disc Golf Tournament.  This won't be a pro-styler tournament but more of a causal one, where you play by the honor system, drink great beer and generally soak up the awesomeness that is Afton Field Farm and a new course to attempt to rule!!  Grab a friend or three, your discs and thirsty bellies and head on out for a great afternoon of disc on the farm!

It's Thursday...and it Beer Week speak...that's basically Friday....so kick your Corvallis Beer Weekend of right with Ninkasi and Oakshire Brewery Tour at Brew Station.  You won't actually be "Star Trek" beamed to their brewery but you'll get the meet the reps, maybe score some schwag, and see what other specials Brew Station has in store!!  They got a few tricks up there sleeve for this event so stop by and check it out!

Come on down and meet the friendly new brewery on the block, Sky High Brewing!  Although their restaurant is still under construction, it didn't' stop Sky High from getting the beer flowing through their mezzanine level tasting room overlooking their brewery.  Come grab a pint and welcome Brew Master Laurence Livingston to Corvallis!  He'll also be leading brewery tours of the new digs!

#14 ~ 3-7PM - Craft Beer Run (not the jogging kind) @ City Limits Store

The friendliest damn convenience store and gas station ever with a killer craft beer selection to boot!  Well to show them our support we are hosting the first annual Craft Beer Run!  No jogging shoes required.  You've heard of a bank run...right?!  well it's like that except with beer.  We are going to try and run Clive and his team out of beer, by purchasing it of course.  However, he'll have brewery reps on hand with schwag giveaways and we'll keep track of each bottle sold and post the results and photos here afterwards!  Let's clear their coolers!!

#15 ~ 5-10PM - Doubles Cribbage Tournament @ Downward Dog *

Corvallis..here it is.  Corvallis Beer Week's first event Doubles Cribbage Tournament at the Downward Dog!  Learn the rules of a Doubles Cribbage Tournament then battle it out among 16 teams and see if you've got the mustard to take home the title.  There is a limit of 16 teams of two and you must have a partner, and only one to register!  For tickets and additional information please visit http://corvallisbeerweek.org/tickets-for-events/

Last years IPA Tap Takeover was a huge success so Seth Waddell and the downtown American Dream crew decided to continue on the tradition but with some new beer styles.  The first is a Red Ales Tap Takeover!  Compare 10 different Red Ales from all over the NW from bold and hoppy to subtle and smooth you'll find a new love in Red Ales.  This event is family friendly up front and on the roof so all you peeps with the kids in tow can enjoy these brews as well!  See you there!

Corvallis Beer Week kicks off today at 4PM at Les Caves Bier & Kitchen on 308 SW 3rd St. next to Block 15. Beer Curator Drew Salmi is putting on a killer tap list to get things started right.

Next @ 5:30PM we all grab a banner and continue the Corvallis Beer Week tradition of our Kickoff March as and head up to the NW Monroe Ave. Block Party at Bombs Away Cafe, Brew Station and American Dream Pizza on Monroe! 

The March is super fun and we are trying to hit 100 people on the March!! So...come on Corvallis. Grab a friend or three...ditch out of work a little early and come celebrate with us!! I mean really, it's Monday!!!

Dave Wills at Oregon Trail is famous for his mystery beer events.  The basic premise is that you are given a sheet of paper with 10-15 beers styles or actual beers listed and then you blind sample each brew and see if you can match them all up correctly!  Very fun and crazy educational!  This year he has decided to do a Mystery IPA Event!!  10-15 IPA's and you are trying to accurately guess each one.  Think you've got a high IPA-IQ..then come on down the Oregon Trail Brewery and test your stuff!

The downtown dream decided to take it up a notch this year and host a Dark Side tap takeover on Friday, September 14th!!  What is a dark side tap takeover you ask?  Well, Seth Waddell from CrowBar and the crew at the downtown American Dream Pizza decided it would be super fun to put on all dark beers for the night.  Everything from porters, stouts, coffee stouts, and even CDA's will be flowing!  The roof will be open as well as the front of the house so this event is definitely family friendly...just no minors in the Crowbar.  To the Dark Side......

Block 15 Beer Brunch & Cellar Stash Limited Bottle Release Tickets go on sale...

Heads up Corvallis Craft Beer and Block 15 Fans! As you know, Block 15 will be hosting an awesome Beer Brunch and Cellar Stash Limited Bottle Release on Saturday, September 15th as part of Corvallis Beer Week 2012!!

This event will be strictly limited to 80 guests and tickets will be required! Purchasing a ticket will get you entry into and food at the brunch and Cellar Stash Rights to purchase 2 Limited Release Brews!   Ticket prices have not quite been set but will be somewhere between $13-17ish. AND...I know you've been waiting for it...Tickets will go on sale on Monday, August 20th at 10AM!!

Awesome Volunteer Opportunity

Good Afternoon Corvallis Craft Beer Fans,

Hope everyone is getting excited about CBW2012 because we are pretty pumped. However, we wanted to take this opportunity to send out an invitation!

We are looking for 12 Volunteer Bartenders for Barrel, a barrel-matured beer event, taking place on Friday, September 14th, 2012 from 6:30-10PM at the Odd Fellows Hall in downtown Corvallis as part of Corvallis Beer Week.

Volunteer Requirements
- Possess a current and valid OLLC Servers Permit
- Be able to work on Friday 9/14/12 from 5-10:30PM
- Be knowledgeable or able to learn about barrel-matured beers and be able to communicate that to Barrel guests. Each Volunteer will be responsible for near complete knowledge of 2 of the barrel-matured beers being poured from their bar.

We do realize there are a ton of people who would love this opportunity, but then they wouldn't be able to actually attend Barrel. So...in exchange for Volunteering, we will provide volunteers the following.

Volunteer Benefits
- 1 Pass into Septembeerfest on Saturday, 9/15/12 at the Fairgrounds
- 1 Pass into 1 session of next year's Barrel event happening as part of Corvallis Beer Week 2013
- Add'l awesome benefits we can't mention here. Ooo...triple top secret!

So you can see that by not attending the first year and being a super awesome Volunteer you get priority registration and a comp'd pass to next year's barrel event.
